Below you will learn about some of the ins and outs of John and Gemma's big day, the suppliers that the couple used and how their day unfolded. After two days of gale force winds, the weather completely settled on Friday the 18th of September, giving the couple an absolutely perfect day for their beachside wedding. PRE-WEDDING
Gemma and her girls spent the morning at her parents' home on Convent Lane. The girls sipped champagne, put the finishing touches on the wedding cake and had their makeup done by the talented Nicky Fletcher, while Gemma's sage green bridal party gowns and her stunning lace dress hung ready by the window. There was a special moment with her dad before it was time to head to the ceremony.
John and his groomsmen settled the nerves with a round of golf before heading back to get ready, with a few family members on hand to help with the buttonholes and keep the rings safe.
CEREMONY
Gemma arrived in style in her father's red Camaro and made her way to the ceremony overlooking Main Beach, Yamba.
The groomsmen set up the ceremony themselves, and the couple said “I do” in front of 100 of their nearest and dearest under a simple white arbour, with the ocean as the perfect backdrop.
The ceremony was officiated by the lovely Georgi from Joy by Georgi.
WEDDING PARTY PHOTOS
After the ceremony the wedding party headed down to the rocks beside the pool at Main Beach for their portraits. With the wind gone and the ocean sparkling, Russell Chown Photography made the most of one of Yamba's most iconic spots, and the bridal party even found time for a few cartwheels and jumps on the sand.
RECEPTION
The celebrations continued just steps from the sand at the Yamba Surf Life Saving Club with a relaxed cocktail style reception. The furniture was supplied by Rosie Pose Event Hire and Monique from Yamba Weddings & Events transformed the room with her draping.
The tables were dressed in soft greens and creams, with cheesecloth runners, fresh white florals in glass jars and engraved “G&J” timber coasters for guests to take home, while out on the deck the tables looked straight over the waves of Main Beach.
After the speeches the couple cut their cake, followed by their first dance, and then North Coast Entertainment kept the party going with live music before taking over the decks to fill the dance floor.
With most guests staying within walking distance, everyone could stroll home at the end of the night, while the newlyweds spent their first night as husband and wife at the Surf Motel Yamba.
We wish John and Gemma a long, happy and prosperous marriage.
